Q. When is the 2009 Festival?
A. The 2009 Festival will be held from 2pm, Sunday July 19 through 1pm, Saturday July 25.
Q. Where is the Festival being held?
A. The Festival will be held on the campus of Belmont Abbey College, Belmont, NC (college link)
Q. Who can attend and participate?
A. Any adult (high school age) of any faith.
Q. What is the cost to attend the festival?

Q. What are the costs for Daily attendance and Meals?
A. Daily Attendance …………$65.00 includes lunch and dinner (no music included).
Daily attendance no workshops, observation of rehearsals only no meals………$30.00
Meals: Breakfast ……… $8.00
Lunch………… $10.00
Dinner…………$12.00
All meals are buffet/cafeteria style with several options and include soft drinks.
Q. May I sing in the Festival chorus?
A. Yes. Anyone can sing in the Festival chorus as long as they are not playing in the Festival band.
Q. Will there be a Trombone Choir at Festival?
A. Yes We will have a trombone choir, so bring your 'bone! Please write in "trombone choir" and then the part you play (SATB) under the band selection area on the registration form.
Q. May I play in the pre-concert band preludes?
A. Yes. Anyone may play in the preludes. Don’t forget to bring your instrument.
Q. Do I need to bring a blue hymn book?
A. Copies will be available for long distance travelers. If traveling by car please bring a copy.
Q. Is the Belmont Abbey College campus handicap accessible?
A. Most facilities are accessible. Some of the historic buildings have stairs and assistance will be provided to anyone with special needs. Please note on your registration form any accessibility requirements.
Q. Can special dietary needs be accommodated?
A. Yes. Please note any dietary requirements on your registration form.
Q. What are the dorm accommodations like?
A. Remember that this is a college campus for students and not a hotel. All rooms are air conditioned. There are two types of rooms available for Festival attendees:
All room units will be single sex.
• Single room apartments (4 in a pod) with a common living and bathroom area
• Double rooms (4 in a pod) in a module configuration, with bathroom and two washbasins.
For specific information about rooms check the Belmont Abbey College web site under Student Life/ Residence Life/ Residence Halls. Note that the Festival will use halls generally reserved for first year students. Rooms will be assigned as single sex (brothers and sisters). Spouses will be accommodated in adjacent rooms/modules. *BAC does not provide linens. Linens may be rented for $25 and will include, pillow, pillowcase, single sheets, blanket, washcloth, hand and bath towel. *Participant may bring their own linens.
Q. May four friends reserve one of the Apartment (single room) units or eight friends reserve 4 double room pods?
A. Yes you may do that only if you send all the reservation in together with the appropriate deposit in one mailing.
Q. Are hotel accommodations nearby?

Q. What is appropriate dress for regular Festival activities, workshops, etc?
A. Loose, comfortable, casual clothing and walking shoes are suitable. Bring a light sweater as some rooms may be cool.
Q. What is appropriate dress for concerts?
A. Uniform appearance of performers is important at the concerts.
• Band members- white shirts, dark ties, black or dark pants, black shoes.
• Chorus members- Ladies: white blouse or shirt (preferably below elbow length), black skirt (knee/calf length), black shoes, limit jewelry. Men: white long sleeve shirt, dark tie, black pants, black shoes.
Note: Consider bringing a hanger to transport your clothes for the Friday concert at Davidson.
Q. Are medical facilities near the college campus?
A. Yes. An urgent care facility and hospital are nearby.
Q. Will transportation be provided from Charlotte Douglas Airport, and Charlotte Bus Terminal.
A. Yes we will provide transportation to and from these terminals.When you registration we will then ask you to send further details. We are sorry not to be able to assist you with transportation to and from any other terminals
DIRECTIONS TO BELMONT ABBEY
From Charlotte Douglas International Airport and all points North:
Follow signs to Interstate 85 South. Take I-85 South to Exit 26, the Belmont Abbey College exit. When you exit, you will see the campus in front of you. Turn left at the stop light, then turn right into the first entrance of the college. Turn right at the stop sign, and turn left at the second driveway. The visitor parking area is on the left facing Stowe Hall which is where the admission office is located |
From the South:
Follow Interstate 85 North to Exit 26, the Belmont Abbey College exit. Turn left at the stop sign, and left again at the stop light. You will see Belmont Abbey College to your right as you pass over I-85. Turn right into the first entrance of the college. Turn right at the stop sign, and turn left at the second driveway. The visitor parking area is on the left facing Stowe Hall which is where the admission office is located. |
