You are invited to participate in a musical project for the
Brass Band Union of South Africa’s Festival (BBSA) – Festival Link –
Through technology, we can all participate in the Brass Festival!
Woodwinds invited, too!
South Africa is having a brass festival and one component is a virtual band, playing:
Great is Thy Faithfulness
VIDEOS ARE DUE BY SEPTEMBER 19, 2021 !!
All are invited to join our sisters and brothers in South Africa on this virtual project.
Please do not use the standard Blue Book, but rather, the arrangement provided.
The sheet music and the audio track to follow are below. Thank you.
Virtual projects are recorded by you, at home, listening to a recorded track, listening with headphones (computer, laptop). You then play or sing your part into a second recording device (phone, tablet). These virtual presentations will then be shared with the public during the Brass Band Union of South Africa’s Festival week at the end of October, 2021.
VIRTUAL BAND INSTRUCTIONS
From the Producer/Editor:
For the BBSA 70th anniversary festival we have chosen Great Is Thy Faithfulness as our massed band hymn. We would like to invite you and your fellow brass band members to please submit a video recording of yourself performing this hymn. For our festival we have already recorded and filmed 235 brass players and we would love to double that number in this video with our brothers and sisters in brass from all over the world.
Each region has been assigned a specific part of the piece to play, so listen carefully to the voice instructions on the track and make sure you have the right music. Please feel free to share this track and music with all brass and wind players in your area.
1. Please use headphones to listen to the track while you play and do your best to play exactly with the the track.
2. Use a 2nd device to record yourself. This video must be recorded in landscape. And the device must stay completely still throughout your recording.
3. Make sure there is a solid wall behind you.
4. Please dress in your band uniform, or just a solid color top.
5. You and your instrument must be in the center of the shot and in good light.
Please submit the recordings to:
firstname.lastname@example.org or via whatsapp to +27848521478.
The video and audio editing on this is going to be a massive undertaking so we will need all videos back by Sunday 19 September 2021 at the latest. We would really appreciate it if you could send them early. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me on this number or email address above.
